“Empower a woman and you uplift an entire community. “
The primary goal of the “Women’s Business Training Programs” at DLAM, is to offer women the opportunity to be self-sufficient and financially independent. We currently sponsor programs that provide clear pathways for the women of India, to own and operate a business so they can live full and fruitful lives. DLAM is committed to continually bringing change so that all women can succeed and prosper with dignity, in a country where they have been subjected to discrimination and treated as second-class citizens. .
In 2024, DLAM launched a women-owned and operated "Jute Craft" business, providing a platform for 10 women to manage and grow the business Fair Wages and Financial Independence.
These women are earning a fair wage and are now, possibly for the first time in their lives, financially contributing to support their families. The greatest benefit of this women’s empowerment program is building and nurturing their confidence and expanding their capacity for growth.
Ms.Gunavathi hails from a poor economic background. Despite her talent, she often felt overlooked, stuck in a cycle of hard labor with little recognition. After joining Jute bag training given by DLCT.She learned new techniques, blending traditional methods with contemporary design, transforming her talent into stylish products. Her newfound skills were noticed by villagers, and she began receiving orders from local vendors. With the increased income, she is able to build a better life for her family and send her children to school. She became a role model for women in her village, teaching them how to turn their skills into profitable businesses. Her journey was a testament to how hard work, persistence, and opportunity could transform a life, turning jute into a symbol of empowerment.
Sindhu, from a small village, struggled to make ends meet, despite her hard work. One day, she joined DLCT that focused on empowering women artisans. The NGO provided training in modern designs, quality control, and marketing techniques. With the support and resources, sindhu learned how to improve her craft and produce bags that appealed to a larger market. Her creations were soon sold in local and other stores, bringing her a steady income. Through the NGO's network, she gained access to new opportunities, and her business flourished. Sindhu’s success inspired other women in her community, proving that with the right support, dreams could be turned into reality.
